Heyo! It’s me—Toby Chernesky! Welcome to my website and a glimpse into my world. If it isn’t already abundantly clear, there’s a lot I love about the performing arts. This Rum Tum Tugger has always been a curious cat, and I have that to thank for fueling my exploration of all the facets that make live performance possible! Throughout my life, I’ve found ways to connect the things I love to a tangible career, and I’m always ready to entertain the masses and spread love in any way I can. ABOUT ME:
Proudly raised in Flemington, New Jersey, I’m a multi-hyphenate artist based in NYC! I’m about to graduate from NYU Steinhardt with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Music Theatre (cross-training in Contemporary), and a minor in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. I’m a baritenor/countertenor with a huge curiosity in all styles of performance, and an affinity for entertainment and camp at its peak form!
I come from a big Italian family with a passion for life and a good argument. Growing up, I played football for 11 years and always loved music. I started with the clarinet and over time focused on singing, acting, and dancing.
Outside of the performance world, I have a great love for video games (specifically Nintendo), fishing, and cats! In my teens I raised two adorable cats, Georgi Girl and Raven, who still live with my parents in Flemington. Nowadays, I spend my free time planning new shows, hosting parties like the Italian mother I am, and crying over cute cat videos weekly (fine… daily).
